Particle Dynamics in Aluminium Melts – A Metallurgical Point of View

Particles are existing in molten metals as non-metallic inclusions. These particles have crucial impact on metal products in terms of their mechanical properties. They are detected via online and offline methods and many different techniques are used to remove them. However, to develop or improve those methods it is necessary to understand their behaviour and interactions in fluids. Therefore, numerical, experimental and analytical approaches are required as a contribution to existing particle dynamics knowledge. The talk will aim to summarize the particle behaviour in aluminium melts, particle detection and removal methods, inclusion critical products, understanding of particle movements via experimental and analytical approaches.
