Active flow control using reduced-order models

In recent years, industrial, economical and environmental needs have reinvigorated the interest in practical methods for control of transitional and fully turbulent wall-bounded shear flows. In this talk, we will focus on active flow control, based on low-order modelling and closed-loop design (reduce-then-design approach). First, we will consider recent developments in the model reduction and system identification, with focus on data-driven methods and how machine learning can be employed for the robust identification of the input-output behaviour of the system. Control design will be analysed from the robustness perspective.
