Chiral dipoles in turbulence

We aim to understand the principles of turbulence. In particular, the focus lies on the mechanism of vortex stretching.
For this, a new way to measure the strain of a turbulent flow field is needed. In the talk, we present an innovative technique that uses chiral particles to quantify the strain of turbulent flow. Numerical simulations are applied to generate a fundamental model, that will be compared with experimental data.
